About Us

The Urbantech Project (UrbanTech) is located at the former Roberto Clemente Middle School in North Philadelphia. Students from Edison Fareira High School assist in the administration of UrbanTech's Computer Recycling Center through a course called, Technology for the Community .
The Urbantech Computer Recycling Center has been established to achieve three primary objectives:
Acquire a minimum of 500 donated computers from corporations and institutions in order to sustain the community-based recycling center.
Train North Philadelphia youth to perform basic hardware and software upgrades, so they can then assist in the refurbishing and upgrading of the donated computers.
Place 500 refurbished, Internet capable computers in classrooms (grades k-12) that otherwise would not have access to resources available through the Internet.
To date, we have received over 200 donated computers. Using parts of these donated computers, we have refurbished and upgraded 100 Internet capable systems that have been placed into classrooms.
